The Lyon 2024 motorcycle show
The Lyon 2024 motorcycle show took place on March 7, 8, 9 and 10, giving me the opportunity to
check out the latest models from manufacturers, brands, custom builders and more.
The news I was waiting to see in person was the new BMW R12 and R12 nineT. Two new bikes from the German manufacturer, both with the same architecture. Compared to the previous nineT version released in 2014, these two models have a more classic, pure design. These two motocycles are good bases for customization, offering multiple possibilities in Scrambler, Cafe Racer, Bobber, Tracker and other styles. Beautiful concepts on the way, stay tuned!
Another new model that caught my eye was the Yamaha XSR900 GP. A neo-retro bike based on the brand's 80s Grand Prix motorbikes. In terms of lines and graphics this bike is a real success.
There was also the new Husqvarna Vitpilen 401. The old Cafe Racer-style version with its clip-on handlebars come back with a new evolution and a less radical, roadster-style riding position. As an owner of the first-generation, I have to admit that I find the design of this new version less appealing, with its complex shapes and less refined styling than the old one.
Last but not least, the Triumph TF 250-X. The brand has entered a new motocross segment, setting itself apart from the market with its recognizable black, white and fluorescent yellow colors and trims.
The show was the place to revisit concepts such as the Huge Moto SR-X electric motorcycle based on a Zero Motorcycles. It was designed by California studio Huge Design. A remarkable style exercise!
This year, the S2R organized the Lyon Kustom Factory, an opportunity to see customizations of all kinds (chopper, dragster, club style, scrambler, mopeds, etc.) based on Harley-Davidson, BSA, Royal Enfield and more. Here are some of customs:
The two wheel show is always the place to see beautiful collections of vintage off road and track bikes... And also exceptional motorcycles like the Brough Superior X Aston Martin AMB 001 Pro. Featuring a design and engineering pushed to the extreme for a motorcycle limited to 88 examples. Here are a few pictures:
